The new Berlin airport, plagued by many delays, will not open in 2014. Not even partially, as it was considered at a time.
”De facto, it is no longer possible to open the airport in 2014”, said Klaus Wowereit , Social Democrat mayor of Berlin and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company in charge of the construction of the airport, according to the German news agency DPA .
In August 2013, the Board had approved a decision to partially open in March 2014.
The owner Mehdorn, had hoped that from this date, 10 aircraft per day could land or take off from the new airport. But this project is now abandoned.
The opening of the new airport of Berlin, one of the largest projects in Germany, has already been postponed four times due to a multitude of technical problems.
